Digicam DAY
I grabbed my brother's digicam and began shooting...see what got caught between me and the lens...scrool down and click on the pics for a closer look!

The kid's got my look! Nyaha!

It's only 10:00 am...too early to get up!

And because i'm now awake...i will look at you. LABO!

Yeah, that's how dark, damp any messy my room is. Don't worry, I'm so used to it.

And now that you've seen a the study area of my room, here's my dark, gloomy bed...CLUTTER!

And here's my CD/VCD collection...all original. You can see Amelie, K-Pax, 2 Twisted Halo, Marty McFly, two Squid9, the Pin-up Girls, Boldstar and Therapy.

The digicam taking a shot of a webcam. Yes, that is a webcam. With a special cameo of our printer and wireless mouse.

This is what our house looks like in the morning, after all my neices and nephews have left for school and my brother and sister gone for work. And all that mess is left for me to clean up.

This is Me and Maxine. Geez, I kinda look 15 yo here.

Crookshanks, our cat. My brother visited two days ago and was surprised that we actually owned a cat, considering that 30% of the household has asthma. She is pictured here, wearing her ROCKER collar -- leather with small metal spikes.

A shot of the street sign. Molave St on a clear sky (except for a tiny clump of clouds). And the banana leaves add an urban feel to the shot...

Yesterday I attended the Annual Music & Arts Festival in Megamall. I got to the venue around 1:00PM so I could attend the Basic Sketching ang Drawing workshop but was totally disappointed that it had been moved up to 3:00PM and was replaced by the Li'l Hands workshop by AMSPEC. Damn kids.

So I sat down tro watch this band performing onstage. It was an unknown band who had been playing inspirational rock. And just my luck they started to play Switchfoot's Meant To Live by the time I found a seat. That should be a good sign...plus the fact that I was wearing my favorite shirt that day.

So I had to wait for the workshop to start. I had also signed up for the Anime Wokshop that came next. The sketching Workshop was so bitin. The lecturer is a member of the Saturday Group and did more jokes and stories than the actual lecture. It was, however, effective because I roused the napping artist in me (the because I have given up the prospect of actually doing artworks and settled for writing scripts and coloring for comics). I may try to get into pencilling in the within the next few weeks/months.

Then came the Anime workshop, handled by a bespectacled college junior who wasn't really sure of himself. He kept on saying "um" and was undoubtedly shaking. But as the discussion went on he kinda eased and I learned loads. First was the basic shapes and the most important thing I learned that day: proportion. I have been drawing Filipino characters that are stocky, with small, pango noses and dark skins (because I wanted to maintain the very Filipino look) too long that I've disregarded the basic superhero proportions.

And in the middle of the workshop Donna started calling me in my cell. Although it was set on Silent, something that vibrated in your pocket next to your groin area is something really annoying. So I kept on rejecting the call as respect to the lecturer. In between lectures she called again ang I answered. Donna was asking if I could go to Gilligan's in Makati because she and Cherry were hanging out because it was Cherry's Birthday.

I was speechless and mindless for a while. I forgot about Cherry's birthday. Probably because the past few days were so nondescript that I never noticed the days pass by. I didn't even know it was Feb 26. CRAP!

I told Donna that I just want to finish one last workshop before I go and meet them but apparently Cherry doesn't want to see me. So since the meet was out the window I decided to stay in Megamall to watch a few bands that were slated to play that night...but not before I had to endure a few song numbers from the Ryan Cayabyab The Music School.

First up was Twisted Halo. It was arguably one of their best performances to date. They played extra loud and the energy level was high. But the crowd was less enthusiastic, probably too tired to move after watching Ryan Cayabyab. Then came Valley of Chrome who received a better crowd response- adding a small moshpit and sending one monoblock chair flying; much to the horror of the old geezers and the security people. And then Typecast roared into view, same crowd reaction. The Mongols announced that they had dropped their original bassist, replacing him with Doc , originally from Teeth, as anyone would know. Chicosci came and you know it wasn't gonna be a quiet night. Of course I stayed away from the moshpit but I could still feel the floor swaying from all the jumping and thrashing. Yep, it didn't feel like Megamall anymore. And to ease up the crowd The Chongkeys came and loosened up with a series of their brand of reggae. I loved their songs. I left when Jeepney Joyride.

One good NP picture, deserves another! So here it is.

Notice that I still wore that blasphemous Benneton wristwatch (I no longer wear watches).
Notice that JHAI is still with us.
Notice that ELAD is SO F@#!CKING THIN.
Notice that KENNETH looks so clean.
Notice thet TUA looks so innocent.

Yep, the idiosyncrasies brought by remeniscing.

And as I've promised myself before I have recreated Bong. Here he is.

Only I've given him a new name.
He's now Ian and like I said he's no longer an assasin he's just a spy now. He was originally my age, but now I made him 18 and based on my life when I lived with my sister. So IAN lives with his excessively strict sister, making it almost impossible to accomplish any mission, let alone attend to one.

I am writing the script for his first, and possibly, only adventure; which involves a rock event, a a pretty rock journalist and a scandal that could wreck the local rock scene. Very ambitious if you ask me, considering I haven't started yet.
In my quest to modernize Darna by getting her out of her traditional costume (though I seriously respect Mars Revelo I must admit that her costume in the Mango Comics release made her look like a Baywatch babe than a superhero), I drew this in the middle of a sleepless night while listening to RX.

And as you can see I'm not really good at doing faces. Actually the only reason I did this drawing is to have something to color. Yes, I draw to color. All I need now is a coloring book and crayons, leave me in one corner and you'll still find me there in three hours...well maybe not coloring book and crayons; a PC and a scanner.
There ya go.

Just last Saturday I attended the Flame Monthly Crowd held at Congo Grill in Ortigas. After all the advertising and the text brigade that we did, only a few people showed up.

  • Janice
  • Beth
  • Vanessa
  • Roselle
  • Irene
  • Cherry
  • Teresa

I was the only guy who came so I know it was gonna be a long night.

Earlier that day I met up with Teresa at the Graduate School entrance over at UST just because she won't be able to stay for the night's activities. When I got there I saw Janice lugging around Colayco Park, telling me that she has a class and we should wait for her before we met up with Vanessa. I left her with her classmates to get look for Teresa.

As I was standing by the Graduate School door, I saw her walking into the scene, with long hair and a college-student-on-a-vacation get up. I was warned weeks before by Cherry when she texted me, "...she looks prettier now..." but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. She was not "pretty." That's an understatement. She was stunning. Seriously. We went up to the Grad Building because she was to meet up with someone, and then we proceeded to hang out by the Lover's Lane* where we stayed until Janice's class was over.

So after meeting up with Janice we headed for the Quezon Ave MRT Station where we were meeting Vanessa.

I AM SO PROUD OF VANESSA. Basta. She is attending a scriptwriting workshop and I'm insanely jealous because she is given an opportunity to break into the scene.

And along with Teresa, we then went straight to Congo Grill dinner. She was supposedly on her way home since she could not possibly stay out late...but ended up hanging out with us until 9:00pm because she wanted to wait for Cherry.

The night was both enjoyable and annoying.

It was supposedly a Welcome Home / Despidida Party for Wacko, since he got home for vacation and would be coming back to Cebu in two days' time. But no sign of him. He texted later that night that he had some family emergency to attend to. DANG. We haven't seen him for almost a year and it sure looks like we have to wait for another year before we ge a chance to see him again.

And so CHERRY and I spent the night mulling around BAYWALK, atlking about stuff and observing the natural mating pattern of the common Filipino ipis-dagat. Hwat a layp!

IT SUCKS!

So after almost three years I finally saw her. Charry texted me before that she looks prettier noe, but nothing could have prepared me...I felt my knees shake and I almost wilted when I saw her walking towards me. I didn't know what to do so I pretended I didn't see her.

So this is our new "relationship" now? We've been elevated from spending hours talking on the phone to shutting up when we're actually together. Isn't that just twisted?

Last night Cherry texted me again, saying that she's done some thinking...that I should try again and not be afraid this time to fail. I did some thinking of my own and I have made up my mind, though I'm not promising that I would stick to it, but at least I've made a decent, selfless decision.

No matter how much it hurts, I've decided that I will not make a move. In her situation it's easy for me to take advantage and end up with her, only because she thinks that no one else will take her in. She's still undergoing a lot of pain and is under the impression that since she already has a baby nobody would ever love her.

I will not make a move because I want her to realize that she is wrong- that she is a wonderful person with or without a child and there will be others. Maybe she does end up with a decent man or maybe I would be with someone else then I will understand that that is probably how it should be; because she'd with someone she loves not someone she voluntarily forced herself to be with for lack of options.

You may call me stupid. Heck, maybe I am, but I really don't care. We're talking about her happiness here, and that's something that shouldn't be taken for granted.

Until then I would have to wait. Again.

This is gonna be so cool! Green Arrow standing by a fallen Green Lantern surrounded by broken arrows and...IS GREEN ARROW WEARING A POWER RING???

Last Friday Cherry, Donna and I went out for a night of really cheap inuman/kwentuhansession. When I got to the meeting place Cherry complimented my new haircut, so I knew it was gonna be a laid back night with my good college buddies.

We first went to Digi Cafe, a Internet cafe/bar/videoke slum/billiard hall in Makati. The place was cool, the internet shop had all flat panel monitors, the billiard halls were inviting...and aside from the general inuman area not having air conditioning and the separate videoke spot was blaring with sluring vocal, it was all good. However we felt like leaving so we left and spent a good ten minutes or so in front of Shopwise debating on where to go.

Finally we settled for Baywalk.

So we went to Taft and walked through Malate, all the way to Baywalk.
Malate was, usual for a Friday night on a Valentine's week, was packed. Even got to see Bopip Paraguya and Glen Sibal mulling around in some grillery.
I expected Baywalk to be a slow, quiet and empty spot...until we got there and realized how stupid I was. The place was jumping with lovers and performers and sidewalk bars.

After walking around finding a suitable spot for our kwntuhan and a spot that we wouldn't hear Usher's Burn polluting the night air, we sat by Lami, which according to Cherry, had great barbecues. So with my trusted iced tea and their beer we stayed there until 4am. We chose that spot because they were the only bar playing hiphop music. Cherry even politely bitched the waiter about the music changing into something boyband-ish. After that though we were treated to a buffet consisted of Chinggy, Twista, Ja-Rule and an unavoidable Usher.
We talked about adventures past, people in our past, our love life (I subliminally begged them to avoid the topic, but no soap) and what we'd do in the future.

Donna had to go home, so hopped on a cab and brought her home, after which Cherry and I headed back to Baywalk, to chat some more and hopefully catch the sunrise. We went back to Lami and said good morning to the waiter Cherry had bitched earlier. The guy had a facial expression that said, "Nan'dito na naman ang mga adik na 'to..."

So we talked and laughed our heads of, surrounded by joggers, people in their usual aerobic mood, dogs of every breed (chow-chow, dalmatian, german sheperd, a pug...) and old guys armed with fishing poles. It was then that we realized our horrible mistake, the sun rose behind the buildings, not on the shore.

So you go to Baywalk to watch teh suset, not the surise. Id..

And as for Donna's request:

Here is the cover appearance of Darna...

Of course by the great Mars Ravelo and art by Nestor Redondo.

If you look carefully at the ribbon logo at the bottom of the image, it says, "Kawili-wili at Hindi Masagwa"
I found some very nice pictures...
