Haven’t been blogging for the past few days...my last post was February and it’ll be April in two days, who am I kidding? I seem to be having less time for anything, although I haven’t been productive lately...i'm barely out of the house, always in my room again, who am I kidding?

News is that I am between jobs, or at least I think I am, since I wasn’t really a 9-5 drone, it wasn’t immediately apparent on my schedule. Hard to say this, but the magazine I work for appears to be just a dead end, no future one issue project- either that or this is the longest and most pointless hiatus a magazine has ever been in. And the reason I stayed jobless was because I hoped that the mag can still push through or I’d soon get another Research post for a new book. But I can’t wait forever, in the name of income.

And so I corkscrewed onto the classifieds during the weekend, and found myself staring at pages and pages of ads looking for call center agents and medical transcriptionists and nurses. Aside from those, I found nothing I liked or I qualified, unless I say I’m a driven 31 year old graduate of Business Administration with a 5-year experience in marketing, can work at long hours and willing to relocate to Basilan. So unless I find something I like, I think I’ll succumb to whoring myself on the phone again. I know I told myself I’d never go back to call centers, but I figured that I could do it for just a few months, save up and then move on- unless I have so much fun with my coworkers then I could probably stay like last time.

SO for now, I'm considering applying for a call center position over at Quezon City. Let's see har far I'd go in there.

This is how I would like to remember Elad...

Dead Thoughts

-Eddie Guerrero died. Since I have not watched professional wrestling since high school (when I had this DEBRA-i-love-u phase) I didn't really know who he is up until his death.

-I just read from IMDB that Eliza Dushku ditched a possible Faith series (Buffy spin-off) so she could do Tru Calling. I love Dushku and I simple adore Tru Calling. But I prefer seeing her kick ass as Faith than see run around the city saving people who are about to die yesterday (???) as Tru Davies.

-I really do hope Hoodwinked! gets local distribution here. It has really great 3D graphics. Since I saw the trailer over at the Digital Eye Candy office, I just couldn't wait to see it.
Finding Nemo had some Pinoy animators, The Incredibles had several and The Matrix had a few, but all the Hoodwinked! animators are Pinoy.

-I went to Dish over the weekend to cover Join The Club's album launch and I must say that they're live performance has managed to convert me into an instant fan. They're drummer is so amazing, and probably the most inventive in the scene right now. Plus I have a copy of their album Lunes inside the Press Kit. Ah, the perks of being in the Media field!

Saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at Gateway last week. Couldn't quite restrain myself with the fact that most of the people at work have seen it (and are itching to talk about it), plus the billboard near Santolan, EDSA has a way of greeting me as I passed by it every night to get to cubao. It sure looks like several pin-up shots done by either Pantene or Rejoice strewn together- these kids have long, flowing hair and had this intense expression.

And damn have they grown!

Because basically everyone knows how the story goes, I won't break the movie scene by scene and describe the technical, theatrical and aesthetic aspects of each.
But I'd like to say that they've managed to push the computer effects up a notch and Hermione (Emma Thompson) is beginning to look stunningly awesome...looks like a Kate Beckinsale in the making.

Privilege of Being
Robert Hass

Many are making love. Up above, the angels
in the unshaken ether and crystal of human longing
are braiding one another's hair, which is strawberry blond
and the texture of cold rivers. They glance
down from time to time at the awkward ecstasy--
it must look to them like featherless birds
splashing in the spring puddle of a bed--
and then one woman, she is about to come,
peels back the man's shut eyelids and says,
look at me, and he does. Or is it the man
tugging the curtain rope in that dark theater?
Anyway, they do, they look at each other;
two beings with evolved eyes, rapacious,
startled, connected at the belly in an unbelievably sweet
lubricious glue, stare at each other,
and the angels are desolate. They hate it. They shutter pathetically
like lithographs of Victorian beggars
with perfect features and alabaster skin hawking rags
in the lewd alleys of the novel.
All of creation is offended by this distress.
It is like the keening sound the moon makes sometimes,
rising. The lovers especially cannot bear it,
it fills them with unspeakable sadness, so that
they close their eyes again and hold each other, each
feeling the mortal singularity of the body
they have enchanted out of death for an hour so,
and one day, running at sunset, the woman says to the man,
I woke up feeling so sad this morning because i realized
that you could not, as much as i love you,
dear heart, cure my loneliness,
wherewith she touched his cheek to reassure him
that she did not mean to hurt him with this truth.
And the man is not hurt exactly,
he understands that life has limits, that people
die young, fail at love,
fail of their ambitions. He runs beside her, he thinks
of the sadness they have gasped and crooned their way out of
coming, clutching each other with old invented
forms of grace and clumsy gratitude, ready
to be alone again, or dissatisfied, or merely
companionable like the couples on the summer beach
reading magazine articles about intimacy between the sexes
to themselves, and to each other,
and to the immense, illiterate, consoling angels.
